Illness Abroad

AM I ENTITLED to compensation?

Holidays are precious times for all of us. It gives us an opportunity to relax and create wonderful memories with our friends and family, so the last thing you expect is to fall ill or suffer from food poisoning which can ruin your entire holiday experience. Unfortunately in most cases the symptoms persist for weeks or even months after returning home so it is not just your holiday that gets ruined, it could also impact your life back at home.

If you have been unfortunate enough to suffer from food poisoning or any other type of illness whilst on a package Holiday in the last 3 years, you could be entitled to thousands of pounds in compensation. Our specialist Holiday Claims solicitors can help you claim the maximum compensation you deserve as quickly as possible.

To find out if you are eligible, we need to see if your holiday booking was sold as a package holiday by the tour operator. A package holiday must contain a combination of at least two of the following components;
  • Transport
  • Accommodation
  • Other tourist services & activities which account for a significant portion of the package

The vast majority of package holidays sold in the UK are covered by the “Package Travel Regulations” therefore you are most likely covered, however, it can also include customised holidays where you have selected separate components.

You can call us on 0161 393 6880 to discuss your claim or simply Request a Call Back and a member of our Client Team will get in touch with you as soon as possible.

HOW MUCH compensation could I be entitled to?

The amount of compensation we can claim for you depends on the type of symptoms you have suffered from and how long those symptoms lasted for. In general the more severe your symptoms are and the longer it takes for you to recover, the higher the amount of compensation you could be awarded.

You don’t have to be severely ill in order to make a claim. A mild case of food poisoning with symptoms lasting for about a week or more could mean that you are entitled to thousands of pounds in compensation.

Average compensation amounts:
   Mild to Moderate Food Poisoning:   £1,000 to £8,000
   Severe Food Poisoning:                       £8,000 to £35,000
