History of Beningbrough Hall

Beningbrough Hall is renowned it’s richly carved and finished interiors. The estate was inherited by Ralph Bourchier in 1556 who began building the first house on a site which became the family home for a period of 150 years.

In 1700 John Bourchier, who spent almost two years in Italy, inherited the estate and subsequently built the current hall which completed in 1716 and currently stands proud at 300 years old.

Victorian walled garden, luxurious Edwardian borders and parkland, you’ll find plenty of space with great scenery with stunning views of the hall and a dedicated children play area. If you have dogs, the hall permits dogs on a lead so they can enjoy the day out too!

Be sure to bring your camera on the day to capture memorial moments with beautiful sightings.

The Art workshops, dressing up, sculpture modelling and family house trails are great fun and a must. You can really get a good feel of servant life.

Beningbrough Hall’s restaurant delivers a delicious range of seasonal and locally sourced food from a wide variety of fresh Yorkshire produce including rhubarb, asparagus, beetroot and apple to berries you can be sure to indulge on freshly made food.

It is really to see that all restaurant proceeds are donated to the upkeep and conservation of Beningbrough.
